Library Card Application

Anyone who lives, works or goes to school in the City of Burbank or lives in the County of Los Angeles may be issued a library card free of charge. If you live in other areas, please check at the Circulation Desk to see if you are eligible for a free Burbank Public Library Card. Proper indentification with a current address and signature is required. Children through the 8th grade must have a parent or guardian co-sign the application in order to get a library card. Library materials that were checked out for 21 days may be renewed once for an additional 21 days. If the item was checked out for 7 days, it may be renewed for an additional 7 days. Not only can you return to the Library to renew your books, you can now renew Library materials over the phone,or over the Internet. Please have your library card and the barcode numbers of the items you wish to renew handy when you call. Next time you are in the library, stop at the Circulation department to obtain your own PIN. Using your PIN, you may also renew your materials online by accessing our iBistro Catalog.

Obtaining Your PIN

To renew library materials online, place a hold, or check your account, you need your own Personal ID Number (PIN). When you first received your library card, you should also have received your PIN. If you did not, or if you've forgotten your PIN, go to the Circulation Desk at any location of the Burbank Public Library to obtain your PIN.

Loan Periods

Most Library material may be borrowed for a period of 21 days. This includes books, pamphlets, maps, compact discs, audio cassettes and children's magazines. Library materials that may be borrowed for 7 days include new fiction, adult magazines, Civil Service test study books, college test guides, Cliffs Notes, circulating encyclopedias, videotapes and DVDs.

Computer and Internet Access

Computer and Internet service is available free of charge during the hours the Library is open. Computer users must read and sign the Internet Use Policy and present a valid Burbank Public Library Card with an "Internet sticker" to the Reference desk.

Audio/Video Services

Video tapes, DVDs, compact discs, audio cassettes, and books-on-tape and CD are available for check out free of charge. The Friends of the Burbank Public Library have established a special collection of new features available on DVD. These items rent for $1.00 and check out for a 3-day period. The Friends' rental collection is available at all three locations of the Burbank Library.

Fines & Fees

Daily fines for all adult materials are $.30 per item with a maximum fine of $10.00 per item; daily fines for juvenile materials are $.15 per item with a maximum fine of $5.00 per item; adult and juvenile DVDs and videos (including rental titles) have a daily fine of $.50 per item with a maximum fine of $10.00 per item.
